The Leica has unveiled ALS50 LIDAR System the first time at the International LIDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF), New Orleans, USA, has scanning speeds 20-40 percent faster than competing systems.
Measuring roughly 9.5 inches tall and weighing 65 pounds, the compact ALS50 Scanner Assembly allows fast and simple installation in helicopters and small aircraft.
Ron Roth, Product Manager for both the ALS40 and ALS50, Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping, LLC, stated, “As the most versatile and powerful LIDAR system available in the industry, regardless of size, the new ALS50 uses the proven modular Equipment Rack from the existing ALS40 system and significantly more compact Scanner Assembly. The ALS50 range and intensity settings can be altered mid flight, on a flightline-by-flightline basis. And, it offers multi-mode operation, 1-3 return signal intensity measurement with automatic gain control (AGC), as well as pulse rates up to 52 kHz.“
