Accela, Inc., provider of government enterprise management software solutions, recently announced that Cleveland, Ohio, has successfully deployed Accela Automation as the City’s new Web-based enterprise permit, license, and code enforcement system. The new system, deployed in 11 key departments, integrates activities citywide in one central data warehouse, provides on-line services to citizens, and powers more than 100 City inspectors with mobile devices to shift their operations directly to the field. Accela is working with Intel Corporation on Intel’s “Digital Communities” initiative, which helps cities like Cleveland use wireless technology and innovative applications to expand and improve services for businesses and citizens.
Intel’s Digital Communities initiative targets forward-thinking jurisdictions with a program designed to deliver comprehensive solutions and services that transform government operations, increase economic vitality, and enhance the livability of communities. The program in Cleveland, which features Accela Automation and Accela Wireless(TM), also combines technology and services from some companies including Cisco Systems, Oracle, and IBM.
