Dubai, UAE: The Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Central Informatics Organization (CIO), Bahrain, to work together in applied research and industrial innovation.
Dr Khalid Abdulrahman Al-Haidan, Director of GIS Directorate, CIO, said, “CIO is a leading institution globally in GIS and remote sensing. It is a main source of information in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and we are keen to benefit from advanced technologies to support the concerned authorities in the Kingdom. EIAST is one of the premier institutions in space research and advanced technology in the region, and the partnership is a perfect fit for CIO.”
Salem Al Marri, Head of Space Programme Department at EIAST, said, “EIAST seeks to establish regional and international cooperative relations and joint ventures with leading institutions to provide solutions that strengthen the march of human civilization and human advancement. Our partnership with the Bahrain’s CIO marks the strong co-operation in the region by EIAST to promote the application of our space services.”
He added, “The MoU will contribute to developing human resources by strengthening the culture of innovation and scientific research among nations as a founding pillar in the system of development.”
