China: China launched Yaogan-29 remote sensing satellite from Taiyuan launch site in Shanxi Province, north China on Thursday. The launch was carried out via a Long March-4C rocket; the rocket’s 219th launch till date.
China says that it plans to use this satellite for land surveys, crop yield estimates and disaster relief. However, western analysts are of the opinion that this class of satellites is used by the Asian powerhouse for military purposes.
The launch was the 53rd successful orbital launch from the Taiyuan Satellite launch Center, the 2nd launch from this space center in 2015 and the 4th orbital launch for China this year.
