Laos: Laos has become the newest member of the coveted space club. A Chinese carrier rocket, CZ-3B booster, has launched a Lao satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province. Chinese President Xi Jinping has hailed the project as "a significant manifestation of China-Laos comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership under new circumstances". Xi also pointed out to a new paradigm of cooperation between developing countries in the field of astronautics. The Lao President Choummaly Sayasone admitted that the production and successful launch of LaoSat-1 would not have been achieved without the support and assistance from the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Government.
