India: Chennai has decided to deploy LiDAR technology to identify faulty road compaction by analysing road surface and sub-surface.
As part of the Pavement monitoring and management solution, using LiDAR, road surface will be modelled in 3D and the model will then be used to do surface analysis for potholes, cracks, rutting, and evenness.
Basis collected data of the 3D road profile, the consultant is required to submit a complete proposal for pavement management measures for the next three years. The corporation would use the proposal findings to make suitable modifications in road laying methods in the future.
