Change of leadership at Leica Geosystems

Following the takeover by Hexagon, the current Board of Directors of Leica Geosystems will step down at a specially scheduled Extraordinary General Meeting on 18 November 2005, when Hexagon will appoint its own representatives to the Board of Directors. As announced in June, Hans Hess will step down by the end of October after 10 years as CEO of Leica Geosystems. The Board has appointed Ola Rollén, CEO of Hexagon, as President of Leica Geosystems as per 1 November 2005.

As announced at the beginning of June, Hans Hess, who has been with the company for 16 years and CEO for the last 10, is to step down in order to pursue new opportunities. His departure as CEO and Executive Director of the Board will mark the end of an era for Leica Geosystems, during which Hans Hess has been instrumental in the success of Leica Geosystems, making it the global market leader it is today. Mario Fontana, Chairman of the Board of Leica Geosystems said: “The Board of Directors and Corporate Management would like to thank Hans Hess for his untiring commitment to the company. The tremendous technical and social skills, integrity and straightforwardness, energy and drive that he has demonstrated time and again, particularly over the last few, intense months in the context of the takeover, have been invaluable“. The financial results for the second quarter and first half of FY06 will be released on Friday 28 October 2005.
