Digital mapping and GIS software developer Cadcorp has announced that North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC), housing association Soha Housing and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has selected the Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System software suite as the basis of its new corporate GIS. Cadcorp SIS will replace the council’s existing GIS and will both support the council’s adoption of Ordnance Survey MasterMap to underpin its digital mapping/GIS applications and enable it to meet current e-Government service delivery targets.
Cadcorp will deliver Cadcorp SIS desktop and Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET Web-enabled software and will assist NWBC in their implementation. The new GIS will be available via the council’s corporate intranet to most departments to support service delivery in areas such as borough care, planning, streetscape, environmental health, housing, facilities management and maintenance of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG). Cadcorp SIS will be integrated with the council’s existing planning system and gazetteer to realise efficiency gains across planning and LLPG functions. NWBC will also make use of the built-in support for GPS devices introduced with Cadcorp SIS V6.2.
Cadcorp SIS will be used by Soha Housing to make its Ordnance Survey mapping, land terrier and housing stock information available for the first time to all staff that need it. Initially the new GIS will be used by staff responsible for accessing and maintaining terrier and grounds maintenance information. Future proposed developments include providing links from the GIS to a number of databases in order for staff to access a variety of information via the system’s map-based user interface. The new software, comprising Cadcorp SIS desktop, developer and GeognoSIS.NET Web-based GIS products, will enhance Derbyshire’s existing GIS applications. The new GIS will be used to assist a wide range of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service’s activities, including: IRMP and the integration of this with the service’s enterprise information system; FSEC; fire safety, for example planning fire home safety checks and leaflet drops; hydrants and property maintenance management; transport planning and vehicle location identification; and management reporting, such as fire station performance.
