US: Experts have demonstrated how a cloud-based disaster response infrastructure can help emergency responders in sharing geospatial and other critical data despite having different IT systems.
The real-time demonstration for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency was led by the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium. Experts demonstrated a disaster-response simulation based on the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The demonstration confirmed that all geospatial data can be stored in the object-based environment and accessed (without establishing authentication to separate data repositories) as a standard Open Geospatial Consortium service. Amazon Web Services, Google cloud, Savvis, Aerospace Corp., NJVC along with several other companies participated in the exercise.
