Bentley joins ESRI in AEC-GIS interoperability presentation

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, announced that ESRI’s David Maguire and Bentley’s Styli Camateros will co-present their companies’ shared vision of AEC-GIS Interoperability Wednesday, July 9, at the ESRI International User Conference. Maguire and Camateros first presented the companies’ shared vision at the Bentley International User Conference in May. The companies began collaborating in 2002 and have developed a strategic relationship aimed at coordinating software development efforts and enabling the integration of AEC and GIS information. This session reports on how Bentley and ESRI are working together to help users take advantage of the capabilities associated with AEC-GIS interoperability. Specifically, they will outline how both companies are providing seamless interoperability between ESRI’s ArcGIS(R) and Bentley’s AEC solutions. Desktop and server integration will also be demonstrated. Adena Schutzberg, Editor of the weekly electronic newsletter GIS Monitor, has kept a close eye on the two companies’ work. “GIS Monitor is always looking at new ways to approach geospatial challenges. Bentley and ESRI are trying something that to my knowledge hasn’t been attempted. By exchanging core software code, the two companies hope to make data sharing, at the desktop and in the managed environment, not only possible, but easy and lossless. Those tasked with linking AEC and GIS data should look carefully at this innovative step in interoperability.”
