Belarusian RS satellite to be launched in 2012

Minsk, Belarus: The Belarusian BelKa-2 remote sensing satellite will be launched before the end of first half of 2012, General Director of the United Institute for Informatics of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Alexander Tuzikov, announced at a press conference in Minsk, Belarus. “I hope that everything related to the programme of remote sensing will be carried out during the first half of the year,” he said.

He added that the development of a system of remote sensing is one of the national scientific programmes carried out by the Academy of Sciences. The programme stipulates for launching a satellite, developing and introducing a system of collecting and processing data from the satellite and learning to apply this data in the economy.
