Bangladesh to digitise land records soon

Bangladesh: Land management system in Bangladesh will be reformed. In addition, all land records will be digitised soon, announced Rezaul Karim Hira, Land Minister of the country. He also stated that land record, map and other information would be accessible for Bangladeshi citizens via Internet. He made this announcement during the ‘NETCAD ASIA CONVENTION DHAKA, 2012’ held in Dhaka where private secretary to Prime Minister, Nazrul Islam Khan was present as special guest.
The minister also said a good number of projects have already been taken to come out from paper based documents of landed property. NETCAD, a Turkey based GIS solution and Megatech, a local engineering trade body, jointly organised the convention.
Hira stressed that the present government had promised to bring land survey method to international standard and that is why non-governmental organisations have to come forward to assist government. He observed that there is a need of public-private partnership to prepare digitised land survey and ownership.
