Bangalore cops to be equipped with GIS technology

India: The police department in Bangalore will soon be equipped with GIS technology. The scheme is a part of the Union Home Ministry’s $43 million plan to set up quick response teams in major Indian cities.

According to the scheme, Bangalore police department will use GPS devices and GIS for control rooms, patrol cars, surveillance system, vehicle scanners and number plate identification system. The Union Home Ministry plans to implement the scheme in Ahmedabad, Cheenai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai also.
