Azercosmos to develop low earth orbit satellites

Baku, Azerbaijan: Azercosmos OJSC of the Ministry of Communications & IT (MCIT) of Azerbaijan will develop low earth orbit (LEO) satellites. According to MCIT, LEO satellites can be used to monitor infrastructure projects and can support the management and prevention of emergency situations. The satellite can also help in addressing issues of real estate and environmental protection.

Negotiations with relevant agencies were conducted for the development of LEO satellites. Currently Azercosmos is negotiating with foreign companies to tap best deals.

LEO satellites will be launched after the launch of Azerbaijan’s first national satellite in 2013.
