Azerbaijan to launch remote sensing satellite

Azerbaijan: Tofig Suleymanov, Deputy Director, National Aerospace Agency, Defense Industry Ministry of Azerbaijan announced that the country will launch a remote sensing (RS) satellite. However, Suleymanov did not reveal the exact launch date.

Suleymanov said that the launch of RS satellite is amongst special category programme of Defence Industry Ministry, to promote and develop space industry in the country. He said that the RS satellite will be different from the satellite of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies. This RS satellite will provide remotely sensed land data.

According to Suleymanov, currently data receiver station from different RS satellites is operating in the National Aerospace Agency, which gets data from other countries’ satellites on paid basis.
