Atkins awarded for cutting-edge SDI technology

UK: Atkins has won a prestigious industry accolade for the development of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, which has enabled a collaborative digital setting for sharing business information. The Association of Geographic Information (AGI) awarded Atkins in the Innovation and Best Practice (private sector) category, for its cutting-edge Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) technology and services.

The judging panel commented: “The Atkins SDI project is clearly using GIS technology with innovation to increase efficiency and deliver better services to its clients.” One Atkins client, Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH), uses SDI to manage its strategic flood risk assessment data, which is now hosted on a public facing website and is delivering operational benefits to the 11 local authorities that make up PUSH.

Associate director Anne Kemp’s expertise has helped to develop the SDI as a flexible, collaborative platform that incorporates maps, drawings, spreadsheets and databases into one source.
