Lebanon: The Lebanese Army has developed a smartphone app called ‘LAF Shield’ or the ‘Shield of Lebanese Armed Forces’. The app is being used to develop a crowdsourced map for locating car bombs and other suspicious objects.
The app allows users to post warnings about the presence of suspicious vehicles, packages or activities in their area. The app offers the option of sending a text, an image, a video or an audio file. Experts in the army analyse the data and decide appropriate action. An interactive map is published to show the dangerous areas so that the citizens can avoid them.
