Chicago, USA, 29 January 2007 – NAVTEQ, a provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has announced the addition of Amreesh Modi as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Modi is responsible for setting the technology vision and driving Research and Development for the company. He will be based in the Chicago headquarters and will report to Judson Green, President and CEO.
Bringing more than two decades of experience in delivery technologies in the telecommunications and internet arena, Modi is a dynamic leader with expertise in developing innovative systems and software for the marketplace. Modi joins NAVTEQ from Motorola where he served in a variety of technology leadership roles; most recently as Vice President, Motorola Software.
In this capacity, he directed the development of system and application software, multimedia services and convergence solutions for the network, enterprise and connected home businesses. He successfully established software design centers around the world including India, China, Singapore, Australia and Europe.
Prior to Motorola, Modi spent 15 years at AT&T Bell Labs in various engineering and product development roles. At AT&T, Modi engaged in the pioneering design and development work of software recovery and database integrity for the 5ESS Switch, making it a best-in-class global switching system.
