Altitude Angel, the world’s leading UTM (unmanned traffic management) technology provider, has today announced it has now incorporated the Incident Reporting service, as reported in its recent Just Culture initiative, into all its apps and services.
Launched earlier this month, the ‘just culture’ initiative is a world-first for the unmanned aviation industry and is specifically designed for drone pilots and operators to report or register any unplanned event they or their drone are involved in.
Initially, the ability to report an incident required operators or pilots to visit the Altitude Angel website to anonymously register their incident. Now they can access the reporting page quickly and easily through Altitude Angel’s drone flight planning app, Guardian, which is available on iOS and Android and DroneSafetyMap.com.
Altitude Angel’s Philip Binks, who has led the development and deployment of the ‘just culture’ initiative, said: “The industry’s response to the launch of ‘just culture’ has been phenomenal. I’ve been contacted by ANSPs, regulators, manufacturers and operators from around the world who have all welcomed the initiative.
“By adding the link to our flagship drone flight planning app, Guardian, operators and pilots can report an incident quickly and easily within minutes of the event occurring, no matter where in the world it happens. The more accurate data we can collate, the more accurate the learnings we can pass on to the wider drone and UTM community.
“Whilst I wish all operators and pilots safe flights, if they do experience something unexpected then I would encourage them to report what happened via the app, DroneSafetyMap.com or directly through the Altitude Angel website.”
The Altitude Angel reporting system is an anonymous web portal where drone operators are asked to fill in a small number of questions if they experience something unexpected. Altitude Angel will collate the findings before making it available to the wider industry in order for each business segment to apply the appropriate learnings and improve safety.
