AED-SICAD acquires majority interest in its partner BARAL

AED-SICAD Aktiengesellschaft, Bonn, Germany, acquired a majority interest of 51% in its business partner BARAL Geohaus-Consulting AG, Reutlingen. Both companies have been successfully cooperating for many years in numerous GIS projects in public administration and the utility industry. Through the merger, there presence and market position in the Southwest of Germany will be further strengthened. AED-SICAD and BARAL offer their existing as well as their new common customers a maximum of investment security. This is accompanied by the special advantage, that the recently developed applications are closely connected with the implementation and practical use.
Wilfried Gekeler, co-founder of BARAL and member of the board, is managing the company while holding his 49% share. Also, Gekeler has been responsible up to now for the business field GIS software on which BARAL is focusing more and more. Today, BARAL has a staff of around 30 people. AED-SICAD takes over the shares of co-founder Dieter Baral, who has been managing the business area surveying and city planning. Dieter Baral, who resigned from his function as board member and left the company on December 1, 2005, is going to concentrate these activities in the newly founded Baral Ingenieur Consult GmbH.
