Abu Dhabi to get innovative field data collection tool

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) signed an agreement with Critigen, a firm for technology-based consultation, design, technical integration and support services. Under this agreement, Critigen will develop a Mobile Field Data Collection solution, which will be deployed on standard handheld mobile devices.
This field based geospatial solution will allow EAD to optimise field survey and analysis activities and will result in a reduction of time in field activities and greater situational awareness.
“Together we will leverage the convergence of technology and environmental data necessary to successfully overcome the challenges currently faced in field work operations,” said Rand Knight, Senior Vice President at Critigen.
“We expect this project to enhance the accuracy of data collected in the field while simultaneously making field and office staff more efficient with reduced data collection and post-processing times. Once proven on EAD’s bird-monitoring program, this solution can be extended to support all EAD field monitoring activities,” said Anil Kumar, Acting Director of EAD’s Environment Information Sector.
