Abu Dhabi, UAE: A delegation from the Cartography Institute of Catalonia, Spain, recently visited Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), Abu Dhabi, UAE, to exchange knowledge and experience in the GIS.
According to a press statement by the DMA, the Department considers the GIS, a leading project for developing an integrated spatial data infrastructure. The deprtment hopes that the spatial infrastructure will enhance services in public as well as private sectors through a well-connected system. The system can keep pace with the rapid growth of the spatial data sector and push economic growth and comprehensive development in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The meeting was attended by a number of GIS officials in the Municipal System and witnessed a full presentation about different activities and international projects executed by the Cartography Institute of Catalonia.
Manager of Property ‘&’ GIS Division in the Department of Municipal Affairs Ahmed Awad Al Mazroui gave a presentation about the ‘Municipal System’ projects in the field of GIS like addressing system, establishing of geographic names and addressing sections as well as various other projects in spatial data management and the geospatial field.
Al Mazroui commented that this meeting aims to exchange knowledge and experience with international institutions specialised in the GIS sector, pointing to the achievements of the Municipal System in this field and it goes in line with the goal of the DMA to adopt the best geographic information system and data – related services.
