AAAE and Nashville International Airport held the 11th Annual AAAE Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Conference and Exhibition April 20-23 in Nashville. In addition to more than 100 attendees from airports, government agencies, and corporations across the U.S., Canada and Europe, the conference also welcomed six exhibitors.
The conference focused on two primary areas: GIS and building information modeling (BIM) and how GIS can improve safety management systems. Other topics included an update on FAA NOTAM modernization, a roundtable discussion on protecting security sensitive GIS information, and integrating property and revenue management with GIS. Several airports discussed the benefits of their GIS implementations: Nashville, Washington Dulles, Boston Logan, Orlando, Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall, Port Columbus, Phoenix Sky Harbor, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta.
The conference also included a golf outing and an airfield tour of Nashville International Airport.
