1Spatial bags Ordnance Survey of Great Britain contract

UK: 1Spatial, the Cambridge UK business that manages the world”s largest spatial data, has been awarded the single source contract by the Ordnance Survey of Great Britain (OSGB).

The deal means 1Spatial”s specialist team will supply software and support services to the Ordnance Survey”s Geospatial Data Management System.

1Spatial has been chosen to provide centralised planning and management of Ordnance Survey”s production activities, in addition to managing the large-scale data holdings used to generate market-leading products, such as OS MasterMap.

Marcus Hanke, Chief Executive of 1Spatial, said, “We are looking forward to a new level of relationship with Ordnance Survey and helping them achieve its goals with the core geospatial infrastructure. Our solution is extremely efficient at managing and servicing large amounts of spatial data and we”re looking forward to wider collaboration with Ordnance Survey.”

The UK OS deal follows swiftly on the heels of 1Spatial”s recent contract win with Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi). As previously reported by Business Weekly, 1Spatial will give OSi the capability to maintain their entire national spatial database and be confident in the quality of the data.

Having accurate spatial data will give Ireland a national framework, which will underpin efficient government and economic development in the country, both now and into the future.
