Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure Readiness Index and Value Proposition for World Economy, Society, and EnvironmentThe report, ‘Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure Readiness Index and Value Proposition for World Economy, Society, and Environment’ is a culmination of the activities across Phase 2 of the GKI project. It presents the value proposition of GKI for the geospatial user industry and provides a comparative appraisal of 50 countries on their GKI preparedness.
The report consists of dedicated sections on the value proposition of GKI for eight user sectors – Agriculture, Construction and Infrastructure, Logistics and Supply Chains, Cities, Public Safety and Security, Autonomous Driving, Land Administration, and Energy Transition. Each section explores the major technology and market trends driving the sector; the major challenges faced by the sector in the adoption of geospatial and frontier technologies; the level of integration of GKI elements in the sector and their value in solving the sectoral challenges; and demonstration through case studies how geospatial adoption and integration in the sectoral workflow can solve the challenges.
The Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure Readiness Index, based on the GKI elements defined in Phase 1 of the project, provides a framework to enable geospatial stakeholders in a country to gauge the maturity of their national geospatial infrastructure. It will help them understand the strengths and weaknesses of the national geospatial infrastructure and identify opportunities for better co-creation of geospatial knowledge. It provides actionable insights into various factors that are critical for the development of an integrated approach towards geospatial infrastructure management; this, in turn, will effectively contribute to the socio-economic growth of any given country and help it achieve its developmental objectives.
