After our January’s blog on satellite launches in 2017, this month we have brought you a list of all major geospatial conferences happening this year. After the recently concluded Geospatial World Forum 2017, in Hyderabad, here is a list of all geospatial conferences happening across the world this year.
Feb 20-21: IQPC Middle East
IQPC Middle East brings you into the same room as global experts, providing you with the latest information and best practice in your field. The conference is designed to be interactive so that you can probe, question and discuss solutions through case studies, round table discussions, panel debates and workshops
Mar 6-9: SATELLITE 2017
The SATELLITE 2017 “Explore the Connected World” conference this time is taking place at Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C. For more than 35 years, SATELLITE 2017 has played a critical role in determining how satellites will shape the future of our world. The show welcomes a community of aerospace professionals from every market and field of study, hailing from more than 150 nations around the world.
Mar 7-11: CONEXPO-CON/AGG
CONEXPO is a 5-day long conference where every major construction industry will be present amongst 2,500+ exhibitors over 2,500,000 square feet and feature more than 150 education sessions including asphalt, aggregates, concrete, earthmoving, lifting, mining, utilities and more.
Mar 8-10: Google Cloud Next
Engage with the foremost minds leading the cloud revolution and learn how the modern enterprise is benefiting from the latest in cloud technology in unprecedented ways. The event, this year, is taking place at Moscone Center West in San Francisco from March 8-10.
Mar 11-16: ASPRS IGTF
A six-day ASPRS annual conference will feature over 150 technical papers from academia, government, and private practitioners. The conference will feature over 20 focused 2-hour and 4-hour workshops. The annual conference is happening in Maryland.
Apr 3-5: SPAR 3D Expo & Conference
Since 2004, SPAR 3D has been showcasing best-in-class 3D products from input to output. Ever since, Spar 3D Expo & Conference is the must-attend event for professionals from multiple industries to see and learn about the technologies that are changing how work is done today…and to get a preview of the exciting advancements to come. The four-day event will take place in Houston, Texas.
Apr 3-6: 33rd Space Symposium
The 33rd Space symposium is going to be the top global space industry event of 2017. The four-day event will feature exhibitions, space symposium programs, sessions from the government and industry leaders in space technology development and various networking opportunities. The symposium is happening in Colorado.
Apr 3-6: Digital Earth Syposium
At the same time around, another conference is happening in Sydney, Australia. The Digital Earth and Locate ’17 Ssymposium is a four-day event that will explore the role of technology playing the key roles in economic and social sustainable development, environmental protection, disaster mitigation, natural resources conservation and improvement of living standards.
Apr 3-7: GEODATA
GEODATA this time is happening in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. The points of discussion for this year’s conference will be applied geodesy and topography, positioning and communications systems, cartography and geospatial databases, photogrammetry, remote sensing and satellite imagery.
Also to be featured are technologies like national cartographic production technologies, geospatial databases, data and metadata integration models, open source platforms, e-commerce and geomatics, technical guidelines for cartographic product quality.
The conference will also talk about the development of aerial and satellite imagery processing technologies for digital topographic maps generation and updating, imagery capture and processing with thermal sensors, applications, methodologies and projects.
Apr 10-11: Oman Geospatial Forum
Oman Geospatial Forum 2017 will highlight the trends in geospatial domain, and will throw light on how Spatial Analytics, Business Intelligence, Digital Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning are enhancing economic value for national economies.
The conference will bring together national and international experts to discuss geospatial technology trends and systems that integrate and embed geospatial information into business processes and workflows of industries such as Oil and Gas, Defence and National Security, Disaster Management, Infrastructure and Construction, Housing and Land Administration, Local Governance, Water/Telecom and other utilities to drive economic development.
Apr 10-13: AASHTO GIS for Transportation Symposium
The four-day AASHTO GIS for Transportation Symposium provides a platform for persons in government and private industry who are interested in the use of GIS for transportation purposes to get together ans share experiences , see state-of-art software, and learn more about this field. The symposium annually attracts over 4oo symposium registrants in addition to the 3o exhibitors in the technology hall.
May 16-18: Internet of Things World
Register for the conference pass to get the access to pretty much everything (including connected & autonomous vehicles) at the show plus all the top speakers, panel discussions, networking parties and loads of other cool stuff. The show acts as a platform for more than 250+ exhibitors and provide them sessions on the developer stage, ecosystem center stage and watch startup pitches in the startup city.
May 16-18: Saudi Smart Cities Conference 2017
The first annual Saudi Smart Cities conference is a platform bringing together over 700+ participants from ministries and governmental bodies from across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
With the event held endorsement of Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MoMRA), the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs will use this conference as a platform to bring in all the key stakeholders who are and will be involved to learn about the best-practices and state-of-the-art technologies and products that will play a key role in developing their upcoming Smart Cities.
May 29- Jun 02: 79th FIG Working Week
The 79th FIG Working Week will take place at the Messukeskus Expo and Convention Centre, in Helsinki, Finland. This year, the event will feature international community of surveying and spatial professionals together to experience a mix of interesting plenary and technical sessions and workshops, a trade exhibition and a variety of side events and social functions.
Jun 4-7: USGIF GEOINT
Hosted by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, GEOINT 2017 is where the US’ largest gathering of industry, academia, and government will participate in field of defense, intelligence and homeland security, communities as well as commercial, federal/civil, state and local geospatial intelligence stakeholders.
Jun 5-6: EnerGIS
Hosted by Range Resources Corporation, EnerGIS 2017 is an energy-focused GIS conference that brings together GIS professionals and spatial data managers from diverse market verticals to discuss innovation and technological advancement. The event will begin from June 5 in Pennsylvania.
Jun 6-8: Geo IoT World
The two-day Geo IoT World conference will gather on stage 70+ innovators in IoT, geolocation and analytics to leverage the new wave of location & tracking opportunities. A broad range of geo-aware techs beyond GPS will be addressed including: LPWA & IoT networks, GNSS techs & data, Beacons & BLE, new RTLS, Big GeoData, mobile LBS, etc.
Jun 13-16: Hexagon Live conference
Hexagon Live conference will kickstart from June 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hexagon conferences provide a complete view as to how information technologies can be used, at the same time help exhibitors promote their products, raise the organisation’s visibility and develop new business relationships. The event also brings all major industry professionals on one platform, and help businesses discover new solutions.
Jun 22-24: ITEC
ITEC is aimed at helping the industry in the transition from conventional vehicles to advanced electrified vehicles. The conference is focused on components, systems, standards, and grid interface technologies, related to efficient power conversion for all types of electrified transportation, including electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (EVs, HEVs, and PHEVs) as well as heavy-duty, rail, and off-road vehicles and airplanes and ships.
Jul 4-7: GI_Forum
GI_Forum provides a platform for dialogue among geospatial minds, creating an informed GeoInformation Society. Organized by the University of Salzburg, Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics, the conference this year is happening in Salzburg, Austria. GI_Forum 2017 addresses questions in the context of big data, sensors, real time data streams, geodata infrastructures and cloud computing, bearing in mind perspectives from a variety of domains.
Jul 9-13: Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference
This year’s conference conducted by Microsoft Inspire will be happening in Washington, D.C. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The conference is a place where the world meets to transform business. July 10-14: Esri UC

Jul 11-14: Geo4Africa summit
The Geo4Africa summit 2017 brings together different practitioners in the field of Geo Information Systems (GIS) to explore and showcase the relevance of geo tools. The Geo4Africa Summit 2017 brings together organisations, individuals across the Africa region and globally. This year’s theme is “Geo Tools Innovating Knowledge Databases.”
Jul 11-13: RISE, Hong Kong
Far off in Hong Kong, another geospatial conference is beginning the same day. People from the world’s biggest companies and most exciting startups will come to Hong Kong to share their stories and experiences at RISE. They’ll be joined by major global media, hundreds of investors and thousands of attendees for three days of legendary networking.
July 23-27: MAPPS summer conference
The MAPPS summer conference will begin from July 23-27 in Colorado Springs. This is supposed to the biggest private industry conference in the US in geospatial domain. MAPPS is the only national association of firms in the surveying, spatial data and geographic information systems field in the United States. Member firms, who participate in the conference, are engaged in surveying, photogrammetry, satellite and airborne remote sensing, aerial photography, hydrography, aerial and satellite image processing, GPS and GIS data collection and conversion services.
July 25-26: Wearable Technologies
Mainly focusing on wearable technologies, the Wearable Technologies conference will kickstart from July 25, at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco. This will be a must attend event for all decision makers of the industry. On July 25-26 in San Francisco, the conference will guide you again through the current status of the wearable market presenting a thrilling conference program, an extensive conference exhibition and networking opportunities with the who’s who from the entire wearable technologies ecosystem. Aug 14-19: FOSS4G Boston
The International Conference for Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial or FOSS4G Boston 2017 will feature a robust schedule of keynote speakers, paper sessions, and talks. The event presents great opportunities for learning and networking. There will be a two days of conference workshop that will be held prior to the main conference at Harvard University with hands on sessions for both new and experienced users.
Aug 22-24: GeoSmart Asia 2017

Sept 11-14: SPIE Remote Sensing 2017
The SPIE Remote Sensing 2017 conference that is starting on the same day in Warsaw, Poland, offers engineers, scientists, programme managers and policy makers access to the latest developments in earth observing systems, technologies and applications. The proceedings are indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, Ei Compendex, Inspec, Google Scholar, Astrophysical Data System (ADS), DeepDyve, ReadCube, CrossRef, and other scholarly indexes, and are widely accessible to leading research organizations, conference attendees, and individual researchers.
Sept 11-15: World Satellite Business Week
Featuring high-profile speakers including Presidents, CEOs, CFOs or senior government officials, the World Satellite Business Week Summit will host thematic round table discussions, presentations and a packed social program offering unique networking opportunities and invaluable insight into the current and future prospects for the industry, particularly critical at this time of turbulent economic and political environments.
Sept 18-22: ISPRS Geospatial Week, Wuhan, China
The ISPRS Geospatial Week (GSW) is a combination of workshops organised by various ISPRS Working Groups and possibly other parties active in areas of interest of ISPRS. It is convened by a local organiser, led by the GSW Director, at a common location. The ISPRS Geospatial Week is held biennially in odd years, preferably in the September/October timeframe.
Sept 20-21: 3rd World Congress on GIS and Remote Sensing
The 3rd World Congress on GIS and Remote Sensing is happening in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The theme of the two-day event will talk about the accelerating innovations in the field of GIS and remote sensing. The conference this year will highlight new development in the field of GIS and remote sensing. The event aims at to aggregate researchers, academicians, and scientists from the GIS and remote sensing community to create a platform for robust exchange of information on technological advances, new scientific achievements and the effectiveness of various regulatory programs towards GIS and remote sensing.

INTERGEO covers the entire spectrum of processing, using and analysing geodata. INTERGEO provides both exhibitors and visitors a platform to discuss the latest developments in the sector over the course of three days. The trade fair’s various topics guide visitors along the entire value creation chain.

Oct 10-12: Year in Infrastructure Conference
The Bentley Year in Infrastructure Conference this year shifts to Singapore. Oct 23-27: 38th Asian Conference of Remote Sensing
The 38th Asian Conference of Remote Sensing (ACRS), this time, is taking place in New Delhi. The main theme of this year’s ACRS is Space Applications: Touching Human Lives.
