As a freelancing GIS & Remote sensing consultant, trusted advisor and founder of LATGEO Consulting, his current focus is on consulting / advisory for geo-enablement of enterprises, helping governments/organizations navigate the challenges of implementing geospatial technologies and dealing with multiple technologies, platforms, vendors and integration. With a passion for knowledge sharing and dissemination, he is involved with geospatial technology evangelism. A United Nations volunteer, Aswani is also an empaneled resource for Geoinformatics and Incident Response Management at National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM).
Earlier in his professional career, for two decades he had held executive / functional leadership positions in strategy, business development, sales, product development, operations, quality management & IT infrastructure management with GIS technology OEM and solution providers. His sectoral experience includes E-Governance, Natural resource management, Urban / Rural development, Homeland Security, Public Safety, Emergency Response, Disaster Management, Defense, Land Record Modernization, Utilities, Smart Cities / Smart Infrastructure with a special focus on the integration of Geospatial (GIS) technologies with real-time devices and enterprise systems. Aswani was honored with CIO 100 Award in 2008 - “The Bold 100 – 2008” as recognition for exemplifying the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in Information Technology.
