GIS Education: Training, Placement and Prospect
I saw a graph on “Software Usage” in the article ‘Geographic Information Systems Education:Training, Placement and Prospect’ printed in the GIS Asia Pacific magazine, March 2007 (Vol 11, Issue 3) edition. It was disappointing to see that the reported statistics do not mention anything about ENVI software usage in the same. ENVI has been widely used in the industry and I am not sure why you chose to report the given statistics. This gives a wrong feedback to the Industry / Remote Sensing / GIS / Academic Community and we do not expect your firm to report such statistics.

It gives me immense pleasure to read the article on ‘GIS Education: Training , Placement and Prospect’ in the March 2007 issue of GIS Development. I feel happy to inform you that Department of Geography, Panjab University, Chandigarh is running a Post Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS since 2001-02. Hence, you may include Department of Geography, Panjab University in your data base. We plan to start M.Sc. in Geoinformatics in the near future and may seek your advice in this regard.

News
We recently featured in a news article in your February 2007 (“Indonesian Agency to use GIS for rebuilding activities”) issue, and were very impressed with your magazine.
