Geospatial World Forum, the premier global geospatial industry conference, was held at the RAI Convention Centre, Amsterdam in April 2012. With the theme Geospatial Industry and World Economy, the Forum brought together 1000+ geospatial professionals from 78 countries. The Plenary 1 addressed the topic: Geospatial Industry: Empowering Billion + People. It was chaired by Ingrid Vanden Berghe, Administrator General, National Geographic Institute of Belgium and President – Eurogeographics. The Plenary was a unique occasion as it brought together geospatial stalwarts like Jack Dangermond, Founder and President, Esri Inc.; Ola Rollen, President and CEO, Hexagon; Greg Bentley, CEO, Bentley Systems; and Paul Cheung Director United Nations Statistics Division and GGIM Secretariat. These panelists provided an overview of the growing size and relevance of geospatial industry in world economy and provided the thought leadership for the industry.
