Geographical Information System (GIS) is a popular information system processing spatiotemporal data. It is being used as a collaborative platform for visualisation, analysis and computation involving spatiotemporal data and information. GIS is a more specific name for a generic information domain, which can process spatial, a-spatial or non-spatial and spatiotemporal data pertaining to the objects occurring in topography, bathymetry and space. Therefore, GIS is a more specific instance of spatiotemporal information system, which is being used for many decision support systems and analysis using multiple criteria. This has emerged as one of the important system for collaborative planning, monitoring, and execution of operations using multi criteria decision analysis involving land, sea and air. The operations can be from different application domains.
